Skating Party ideas

This year my girls wanted to have a skating party together.  Since their birthdays are only 6 days apart, I gladly agreed to it!  I made their cakes using one of the new Wilton cake pans.  My youngest wanted a pink skate of course, and my oldest wanted blue.  They turned out really cute.  Here are the cakes....

We had a lot of fun making their invitations.  I got the skate from the Nifty Fifties cart.
We used DCWV glitter paper for the scalloped addition.

We used stickles for the laces.  Much easier than glueing all the little pieces on.

I used the Polka dot cuttlebug folder for "party time".

The funnest thing we made for the party was the favors.  Instead of goodie bags, we opted to make chocolate suckers.  I went on Amazon.com and found some roller skate candy molds.  I made a sucker holder with round floral foam.  I glittered it pink, blue, and silver.  I used spray adhesive.  This worked great.  But oh what a mess!  Next time I'll do this outside and not in the garage!
The kids loved the suckers and the party.  It was a great success.  It is really nice that you can find roller skate molds and shapes on the cartridges.  It makes it so easy to plan a great party!

Using Vinyl for Christmas Gifts

I have had so much fun making Christmas gifts with my cricut and vinyl this year.  I have lots of pics to share with you of my creations.  The best was the ornaments that I made for my son's travel baseball team.  The boys and their parents loved them and it is such a fun keepsake.  It was easy to do, just a little time consuming.  But well worth it.  The other go to gift this year, has been making plates using the new Word Collage cartridge.  I found these great white, square, ceramic plates at TJ Maxx for $5.  They are perfect for the word collages from the cart.  When you put the finished project on an easel, it makes such a lovely home decor piece.  Thanks so much for checking in!  Have a great day!

Such a great gift for under $8.

Charger Plates

I'm sure a lot of you have seen the precious charger plates at Michaels.  They come in wonderful fall colors.  At our store they have some examples up of Halloween and Thanksgiving plates.  I decided that I would make some for Christmas gifts this year.  I thought the plate with an easel would be a great gift especially because I can customize them for each recipient.  So I got my vinyl out and went to work.  I will share the first 2 that I have completed.  One for me and one for my mother in law who loves old fashioned keys.  The vinyl was really easy to work with on the plates.  And now you can get so many colors!!  The possibilities are endless.  I hope you'll give it a try.

All My Kids Are Back In School

Wow, it has been a while since I have blogged.  I basically took the summer off to be a Mom to three great kids enjoying their summer break.  I loved the time we got to spend together.  I missed slipping away to my craft room, but I enjoyed the kids more!  So on this post I wanted to share what I made for their teachers on the first day of school.  The ultimate teacher survival bag.  I even made one for the librarians and the principal too.  They deserve a treat too!  Hope you like it and it inspires you to do the same for the wonderful teachers in your life.
I purchased the plastic containers at Target in the $ section.

This is a view from the top- all the goodies inside.

I used my gypsy to cut out the letters for the chalkboard, with white paper underneath.  The chalkboard was made using two rounded rectangles from the George cart.  The stamp on the tag is from Emma at My Creative Time stamps.

I had to hot glue the paper onto the plastic bag in order to get it to stay put.

This is everything that was in the survival bag with a little explanation.

Update on our Robins

Our robins nest is still on our back porch.  I went out yesterday (May 10) and noticed the Mama wasn't there which is very odd.  So I thought I'd take a peek and see if the 2 eggs had hatched.  I kept expecting the Mama or Daddy bird to swoop in and squawk at me (like they normally do), but I guess they were out getting food.  So as the looked into the nest I was so surprised.  This is what I saw................................

She had laid 2 more eggs!  Can't wait to see what other surprises she has in store for us!

Teacher Appreciation Card

These were cute teacher appreciation cards I made using the Just Because cart.  I embellished with baker's twine and buttons.  I also cuttlebugged some of the words and rubbed ink over it to make it show up so much better.  I inked all the edges and used a gelly roll pen for the faux stitching.  Have a great day!

Cricut Circle- Scrapbook room

Last week on the Circle Blog, we got peeks into other ladies crafting areas.  It was so neat to see how other people organize their things.  As a bonus they want us to show off our crafting places.  So here's my picture in the happiest place in the house!
